The BMW 328i sedan has a new engine for the 2012 model year.  Now this vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged engine that produces 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.  This rear-wheel-drive vehicle has electrically driven steering, multiple drive settings, and comes with your choice of a standard six-speed manual transmission or an all-new class first eight-speed automatic transmission. 

The 2012 328i sedan is powerful yet very fuel-efficient thanks to innovative technology such as auto stop-start, Brake Energy Regeneration, an air conditioning system that is able to totally disconnect from the engine.  The sedan is expected to get about 23 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.  This car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds.

The 2012 sedan is more than 3.5 inches longer and almost 2 inches wider than the 2011 model yet it comes in at 88 lbs lighter.  Passengers will find that the cabin is now larger especially for passengers sitting in the rear.

328i Sedan Safety

The 2012 328i has numerous integrated active and passive safety features.  This vehicle has not been safety tested yet but previous 328i model year vehicles have scored well in NHTSA and IIHS testing.  Previously the 328i has received an NHTSA rating of five stars for front and rear side-impact safety and four stars for front crashes.  The previous model year received an IIHS rating of "Good" which is the highest rating that can be achieved.
